A Perfect Girls’ Getaway in Wellington, Prince Edward County
There’s something magical about gathering your best girlfriends, packing light, and escaping to a place where time slows down, the wine flows freely, and laughter echoes through quiet streets. This summer, we found that magic in Wellington, Prince Edward County—and let me tell you, it was everything we needed.
Day One: Pedals, Pours, and Perfect Patios
We kicked off our adventure with e-bike rentals from Closson Road Cycles, ready for a self-guided winery and brewery tour. The bikes were a game-changer—easy, fun, and perfect for covering more ground without breaking a sweat.
Our 20 km loop took us to some of the County’s most charming stops:
Closson Chase Winery – where lavender rows meet iconic purple barn doors, and we sipped crisp Chardonnay under the summer sun.
Old Salt Cocktails – a cozy trailer, situated in a garden of life size games in the middle of wine country.
Hinterland Winery – a berry farm-meets-winery with fresh, fruity pours and a laid-back vibe.
Garage Time Brewery – a funky stop for a cold beer, tucked into what really does feel like a retro garage.
Midtown Brewery – lively, spacious, and the perfect place to share a flight with friends.
Karlo Estates – rustic charm and award-winning wines, where we lingered a little too long in their barn tasting room.
After a day of sipping and spinning through the County, we made our way to The Drake Devonshire for dinner on their lakeside patio. With the water glistening in the sunset, we indulged in incredible food, cocktails, and the kind of conversation that comes easily after a few glasses of wine.
Day Two: Poolside Perfection
The next morning, after a quiet stroll through Wellington’s charming streets, we grabbed our coffee at Rise and claimed a table out front. Locals stopped to chat, dogs lounged in the sun, and the pace of life felt perfectly unhurried.
Then it was off to The Lakeside Motel, where we’d booked a cabana for the day. With the pool just steps away and lake views all around, we swam, sipped cocktails, and shared plates of delicious food. It was the kind of lazy, sun-soaked afternoon that’s hard to put into words—but impossible to forget.
