Drab to Fab: A Simple Front Porch Makeover
This is our first summer in our new house. We moved in last September and have spent the better part of the winter months painting, organizing and taking it from a house to a home. As a result the inside of our place looks great however the outside, specifically the backyard, leaves A LOT to be desired. We're talking 6 patio slabs (upon which our BBQ sits), some concrete stair and grass. That's it. No fence and therefore no privacy have ruled out us being able to use the space the way we'd like to for this year.
But this beautiful weather has made me miss a place to sit outside and enjoy a morning coffee or an evening glass of wine. I'd never considered using my porch as an outdoor space but a quick Pinterest search made me realize that I may have written off the possibility too soon.
With a few things I already had a few new additions, I've managed to turn my boring and uninspired porch into a cute and cozy place to sit and relax to read, do some work or unwind at the end of the day.
I started with a great outdoor rug I pick-up at Lowe's. It's neutral and I don't need to worry about it getting wet or being exposed to the sun. My amazing dad made my sign post and bench however I found the plans for both on Pinterest. The lanterns were a purchase from Pier 1 a few years ago and I added the battery operated candles for some ambiance in the evening. The pillows are ones I had lying around which I think completes the look setting look more cozy and inviting.
Whether you're thinking of moving and want to add some cub appeal or you just want to better use some wasted outdoor space, a simple front porch might be just what you need.
