Debbie's Cafe

In the midst of searching for the perfect coffee house where we could kick off our "Making You Smile" campaign we were told about a coffee shop like no others in Ajax. We made an appointment to meet with Debbie to discuss our ideas and plans and see if she was on board. While sitting on the leather couch watching her make my Chai Latte, I realized that even my $4.85 chai latte from Starbucks, which I am so accustom to is not made with the half the love and care as it was here at Debbie’s’. As Debbie shared with us a bit about herself and her business, it was evident that this is one of the hardest working entrepreneurs in Durham Region. Debbie’s Café is her dream, her future and her passion. The first feeling that came to me was the sense of community. It is what she strives to build here. Bringing locals together to play games, listen to music, read one of the many books that line the bookshelf, enjoy the displays of home décor and local works of art.

It is without a doubt the spot that we were searching for. A place we could easily escape out of the office to do some networking. It’s amazing how fast the time goes when you are so absorbed in the atmosphere of this café.  Easily distracted by the pastries that filled the glass case which are made from scratch, and the smell of the fresh panins made to order. The crowd that came in during lunch was in no rush at all.  And we knew why.

I enjoyed on two separate occasions the Italian Panini sandwich. When I find something I like, I tend to stick with it. The butternut squash soup couldn’t get more homemade than this. As much as the chocolate and the sweets did temp us, the only box of pastries we walked out with was for our boss.  We know that we will be spending much time there in the future and therefore plenty of sweets are in the forecast. Majority of the food  in Debbie’s café is made fresh in house. When Debbie is finished at her day job she heads to the café to prepare the food for the morning.

Debbie Douglas-Werner is a big supporter of everything “local”. And we the Property Matchmakers are a huge supporter of Debbie’s Café located in Ajax at 94 Harwood Ave. S  Whether you are looking for somewhere to go for date night, or wanting to have some fun with family or friends on a Wednesday night games night, or you just unwind with some jazz and lattes, there is something for everyone. You are guaranteed to walk out with a SMILE.

Hands down a 5 Tandem Bike rating!
